Keyword Entry

The key word that I have chosen from our class readings in Herrick is endoxa. Endoxa, which is a key component in both rhetoric and dialectic, employs reasoning from commonly held opinions (i.e. widely accepted ideas). This is important to both rhetoric and dialectic because if the speaker or rhetor wishes to persuade the audience or prove a point, they must begin a syllogism or enthymeme with some common ground to connect to their audience with.
