My thesis is ” the straight edge was unique in its revolutionary approach to confronting societal norms”
Deficits as a writer
My biggest problem as a writer is my lack of a thesis. I have always struggled with creating a concise and coherent thesis. this is obviously a problem as an essay cant function without one. a thesis is central and necessary so that ideas and thoughts can be disseminated. Im not sure what i can do to fix this, but i have found practice and objectivity help significantly.

Discussion
In my research I have supported my hypothesis from my previous work. The data from this extremely limited research, supports the fact that the Straight Edge Movement was nonviolent. The observed parties never spoke about violence, and this is due to the overwhelming opposition to the violence from directed in response to hardline edge in years prior.
Description Of Data
In order to understand the negative public consensus regarding the straight edge movement specifically accusations of domestic terrorism, I browsed several internet forums to observe their association with violent movements. My Findings revealed that the majority of people who posted or commented within the straight edge subreddit had little to no outright violent messages. They promoted their message peacefully, and utilized lots of memes and critical posts to push their agenda.
There are just around 5000 subscribers with normally 10-20 online at any given point or time. As I am writing this, there have been only 6 posts in the Straight edge subreddit in the last week. none of which were violent, plainly criticizing society and the people who uphold these degrading societal norms. This is further supported by the comment section where nobody actually advocated for open violence, simply reform in society.

To whom it may concern,
I am writing this request today in the hopes that I will be able to conduct an observational study in order to continue my research on the Straight Edge Movement. I have already written a preliminary Background research paper regarding the “Hard line edge” movement and its involvement with domestic terrorism throughout the 1980’s and 90’s. I would like to further continue my research through an observational study in Straight Edge and hardline edge online communities.
Due to the nature of the people I am observing, ethical considerations must be made. First and foremost, many of these people have violent and radical beliefs. I expect to see offensive and discriminatory language and ideals. I will not provoke any conflict in these boards, I will strictly observe the members of the Hardline Edge community and not interact with them in any way. I will simply read and observe. I will being using the internet so my identity will be protected. Furthemore I will leave any personal information found in my research in omnicance.
I am formally asking you to allow me to conduct this research so that I can better understand the motivations and differences between the Straight edge and Hard Line Edge movements.
