The question that this article brings into play when considering our research project is the idea that a person puts on a different front online in order to maintain a certain persona. It questions the idea that people are living with split identities. Your non-virtual identity, as well as your virtual identity. Does the client present a virtual identity that presents them as the kind of “actor” that they want to be? The reading discusses how a person’s virtual identity can be treated like a mask, or something that they are presenting to the world as the identity they want to portray. This introduces the question of does my client present a virtual mask? The virtual world is a way for people to highlight certain aspects of their life in which they want others to be able to access. Is my client highlighting aspects of his life that will help him achieve his post-graduation goals?
