Reflective Tag: This assignment was my first experience with a concise literary close reading and analysis, because as a history major I prefer (or am required) to always look at a broader contextual analysis. As such, this assignment became quite a bit of a challenge for me. Rather than focusing on one scene and expanding on its content and how it develops the author/narrator’s story, I focused on how the story tied in with the times that Chopin wrote in. This, of course, was blatantly off base, and my grade reflected it. However, this assignment was a great learning experience because it afforded me an opportunity to broaden my intellectual horizons by challenging me with something I had never done before.
