Virtual Scrapbook Reflective Tag

Creating my Virtual Scrapbook has been quite the learning experience indeed. I had never created one before so simply learning the technology of doing so was a learning experience in itself. Creating it on the different aspects of the lifestyles of the Beats helped me learn more about the culture for sure. When looking for pictures to add to the scrapbook, I had some very interesting finds. In class, the majority of our discussions were about what a small pool of people thought of the Beat Generation and their experiences. Broadening the horizons to all opinions of the time really opened my eyes to not only how big the generation really was but also the opposition the Beats went through at the time. It really put things into perspective how big of a deal the Beat Generation really was. Because I had never heard of the Beat Generation before, I assumed that it must not have been that big of a deal, boy was I wrong. Similar occurrences happened when trying to find audio to add to the scrapbook. We did listen to a few samples of music in class of the Beat Generation, but getting to explore and find many different songs and styles of the music of the time forced me to realize how much was created during the Beat Generation both in song and the written word. Overall, the virtual scrapbook allowed me to explore on my own and was a good learning tool.
