To be an inclusive leader you must have engagement and involve everyone within the group because it should be your goal as a leader to create a feeling in which all of your followers feel like they belong so that they feel valued for what they bring to the table. This brings us into the LMX theory because its shows us the importance of communication within our leadership. This helps prevent having the feeling of in-group or out-group bias and this theory helps to show us how people within organizations relate to their leaders, and it brings to light how those who volunteer or contribute more receive more than those who don’t. This also helps with equity and diversity. The reason is because equity is when you are impartial, you possess the quality of being fair to your followers which helps to prevent the out-group bias. To be diverse is to be able to include different people with different backgrounds and this allows you to show equity amongst race, gender, and the diverse range of thoughts and ideas your followers may have.
This makes the LMX theory important because it wants leaders to make interaction relationships the main feature of the leadership process. When it comes to my own background and culture, I don’t let it affect my leadership behaviors because I like to think more about the different backgrounds and cultures of my followers so I can develop a better relationship with them, which means I have to show adaptive leadership so they trust me and are willing to put in maximum effort.
