Prompt 6

Through Music there were small protests against wrong, it brought money and interest from outside groups into the Appalachian region,  and allowed certain Appalachian people to rise above poverty and contribute more to society than just their hard labor. Musicians could obviously make more than a coal miner or logger, which is what a lot of Appalachian people did. These musicians brought their wealth and other people’s interests in to the region. This created more money in the Appalachian region than had previously existed in a region of farmers, miners, and loggers. During the Rock N’ Roll era music again made a mark in history. It became a method of protest for peace against authority, particularly against the government involvement in Korea and Vietnam and to voice opinions of equality during the civil rights movement. Rock N’ Roll is also connected to a time in society where drugs and sex dominated the minds of many people. It was all about having a good time. The music reflected the mindset of the people of the time. Music gives people a medium of expressing their thoughts and feelings regarding issues.  It also is an attractive medium that gathers together big groups of people and therefore is capable of spreading an idea very quickly.  Music is such a versatile medium of communication and entertainment. It will be changing hearts and minds for generations to come.
