Often in the realm of sports you’ll hear that someone is a “natural talent,” or a “natural athlete.” Meanwhile this isn’t something you often hear about in the realm of education, and there are a couple reasons for that. First off, you do hear about it in the realm of education, but often no one cares if you were in the “gifted classes” in the Third Grade. Gifted by definition means “un-earned” which is arguably the same thing people mean when they say someone is a natural talent in sports. Second we don’t hear about it often in education, because education is incredibly diverse, and it’s supposed to be not directly competitive. Moreover, it doesn’t happen on live tv in front of millions of people who can weigh in on the subject. Unless you’re Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg, even being a super genius isn’t going to get much attention.
