Leadership Diversity & Inclusion Statement

The reason I came to VMI is that I felt it treated everyone equally, at least equally worthless in a way through the Rat Line. You come to VMI to be forced to work with others from different backgrounds, different families, different genders, and different races. My goal as a leader is to never judge another man or woman due to factors out of their control. As a leader, I HAVE to be color and gender-blind and focus heavily on utilizing people’s strengths in order to complete a given task.5 I am aware of isolated instances of prejudice towards differnt individuals in the past. As a leader if I witness anything out of line, I will act. (6) Participating in boy scouts and mission work in high school was a barrier breaker (7)
I will continue to treat people equally no matter who they are and where they come from. (8)
