  1. Page 191-197: The first primary source is from an oration from an unknown character on the subject of Old Maids and the Widow. The passage mentioned in the last post summarizes the thesis of the oration.
  2. Page 202-207: This biography was written by Jane Austen’s brother. He describes her with such elegance and grace. He really favored his sister.
  3. Page 208-217: Richard Whateley discusses the style of writing that is most prevalent in Austen’s novels, which happens to be her writing the natural.

For my research paper, I would choose the letter from her brother because it gives an image of the author that we can rely on being true and personal. Since I have had interest in how the author’s life could have impacted the novel, I can now compare her to her characters. Also, the last source would be helpful in contextualizing the time with her writing.
