This document “Appalachian’s Find a Way Academically”, discussing the educational background of Appalachian born citizens and how they are portrayed in the media. This work argues against the stereotype of Appalachian born citizens and provides sources and statistical data that shows the rise in Appalachian students earning college degrees. In this essay I was able to display the cultural influences of Appalachian citizen, argue my thesis supporting the regions rise in academics, and conduct research supporting my claim. My ability to provide ample support and well documented research is evident in this essay and served as a basis for much of my work as an English major.
