This showcase item was a document in the form of a petition, which included a “frequently asked questions” portion that highlights the issue of police body cameras and the role police unions play in community policing. This work allowed me to think analytically and compile pertinent information that helped inform the reader on what questions the public would like answered regarding community policing. I also conducted intensive research throughout my Civic Discourse class and focused on the validity of sources and how to identify which sources should be used in academic writing. This assignment taught me a different style of writing separate from that of the usual academic style and was useful in expanding my range as a writer.
