Currently Christopher Spates is attending the Virginia Military Institute, and is seeking a degree in Biology with a minor in Exercise Science. Also, he is a member of the NCAA men’s soccer program at the Institute. Soccer has been a major part of his life as he has played it since the age of two. Prior to coming to VMI Chris played for the Richmond Kickers, and also attended West Virginia University where he played men’s soccer also. Transferring to the Institute Chris hoped for a challenge in order to better his future upon graduation. Academically, Chris’s interests pertain mainly to the anatomy and functions of the human body. No matter the cause he loves working with people in order to make a difference. Through the past few years he has coached the JV soccer team in his home town, and has also shadowed a physician. Chris enjoys being involved in the community and actively participates in local events around his home town. His goal upon graduation is to attend medical school, and to potentially serve the country as a physician in the United States military. Right now he is looking to specialize in orthopedic surgery. Overall, Chris would like to use his outgoing personality, strong leadership ability, and passion for the medical field to make a difference in the world we live in.
