Progress

Week 1

Created introduction powerpoint presentation on my research for my fellow colleagues and professors.

Week 2

Finally received zebrafish! I’ve been changing there ERS (Saline like) solution until they fertilized, and then post 6 days fertilization I have been co-treating the zebrafish with MAO-I and L-DOPA to achieve a hyperkinetic dyskinesia phenotype. I have also captured some of my hyperkinetic fish on video, so I will post that as soon I get the footage! More to come!

Week 3

Another re-run of last weeks experiments. Have soon great video footage. Will update more shortly.

Week 4

Started using 24 well plates for more consistency and less error. So far,  so good. I am continuing to test the co-treatment compared to the control and taking the experiment out to 72 hours and washing out with ERS.

Week 5

No fish this week due to the holiday. Observing video capture and counting pectoral fin flaps to try to get some further data.

Week 6

Currently splitting a 24 well plate for 4 different groups: Control, L-DOPA, MAO-I, co-treatment. Doing this to see if one treatment is more effective than the other at stimulating the hyperkinesia phenotype. Building a powerpoint and calculating statistics on data collected. Counting the amount of times the fish in each group initiate movement over 1 minute.

Week 7

Continuing testing the treatments to see if one is more effective than the other or the two combined. Editing data and making powerpoint corrections on statistics powerpoint

Week 8

Testing if nNOSI can washout hyperkinesia. Experimenting with a tri-treatment (nNOSI+L-DOPA+MAO-I) and a co-treatment (L-DOPA+MAO-I) with a nNOSI rescue.
