This essay displays an ethno community called the VMI RAT. The VMI Rat explains how this community works as well as how you would fit into it.

This essay was by far the easiest and the most difficult of the semester. For me I could not grasp the concept of what an ethno discourse community was. It was a hard concept to grasp the type of writing that the authors did. However, the community that I had chosen to write about was something I understood. The topic was being a Rat at VMI. I can tell you this is one of the hardest communities to fit in from an outside view. I came into this type of community to be apart of a system of commaradie. There are many things that go into play when you think about VMI. Such as the unique language, uniformity and the way they teach us. A person who is unfamiliar with this type of tradition would consider what they do to us hazing, but in reality it is a long line of tradition that is being upheld. The thing that I knew I did best in this essay was my transitional work from paragraph to paragraph. I tried to make the transitional flow better than I have in the past.  Also after going to outside sources to help me understand what the meaning of a ethno discourse community was, I received the help that gave my paper the next level of organization that it needed. The hardest part and the thing I needed to work on was the small thing such as grammatical issues like my other essays. The way to fix this for the next essay will be to read aloud more often when I make revisions,  but overall this was my favorite essay because I knew what I was writing about. I live in this situation everyday.
