Today in class we were talking with our group on how we were going to approach our topic. Our topic is how sleep affects grades. Trying to find research for this has for me presented difficult because here at VMI the normal course load is not a normal course load at other schools. I was seeing in my research that a lot of studies are in adolescence and sleep. I don’t understand why they have as much research as they do on kids vs sleep rather than adults in full academics. What i have found is that high sleep on academic performance may be more diffuse, subtle, or than the effects of sleep deprivation on laboratory measures of function, such as reaction time and logical reasoning. Just like we talked about in class that there are field and lab cases and it can be hard to tell which are more accurate due to the outlying factors. Even though we say control is the key to a good study sometimes field studies can produce more crucial evidence that can be tested in other places as well. Reading the article made the lab and field click with real live research.
