My oral presentation was on Volume 2, Chapters I-V of Frankenstein and I focused on the characterization and development of Victor Frankenstein, while my partner, Cadet Panchik, focused on the characterization of the creature. This section of the book was a gold mine as far as the development of these two characters go as it is the first real interaction that they have with one another. I really focused on Victor’s state of mind in this section of the book and the fact that he is consumed with guilt. I included a visual from the Annotated Frankenstein that represents the magnitude of guilt and pressure that Victor is under. Furthermore, I focused on the ways in which the creature comes off in this section as both morally and physically superior to its creator. My oral presentation also included a discussion on the narrative situation in the novel and how it applies to this section of the book. As a whole, myself and Cadet Panchik’s oral presentation thoroughly covered the characterization of both Victor and the creature.
