Figures in My Desired Career: Modeling Off of Their Digital Footprint

I chose to do my research based off of someone I know, who is currently on the same path that I want to be on after graduation. I chose to study Reed Garrett’s Twitter profile and how he networks and presents himself on there. Reed is a fellow teammate that was drafted from VMI by the Texas Rangers organization in 2014. Reed is currently pitching in the Rangers’ farm system, trying to work his way up and earn his spot with the organization’s MLB affiliate. As much responsibility it is being on the field and getting your work in, every athlete has the social responsibility to take care of off of the field, and Reed takes care of that part very professionally. His Twitter page consists of 90% baseball related material and the organization that he is a part of. The other 10% is of him creating/sharing positive and motivational posts, and communicating with others. He posts a lot of information about pitching, the Rangers organization and networks with others among his organization. He is very, digitally outspoken among his field of work, and he sets a great example of how professional baseball players should be presenting themselves on their social networks. Alongside everything else, his visual modes top it all off. His cover photo is a picture of the Rangers’ logo, showing the audience right away the discourse community he is a part of, and his Twitter profile picture is of him in uniform, at a game of his, signing autographs for young kids whom are fans of him. Reed’s digital footprint on Twitter is a strong example of how I should be using my social networks.
