Secondary Discourse relates to a second or secondary Discourse group that one is a part of, outside of their primary Discourse group. The way Secondary Discourse works is that if you start learning a second language, start studying for a secondary discipline, start playing another sport or game, or starting a second job, hobby or career. There are two different types of Secondary Discourse; Dominant and Non-Dominant Discourse. In a dominant Discourse, members are able to gain privileges and status within the Discourse, whereas in a non-dominant Discourse, you stay the same while in the group and there is no increase in status or gain in privileges.
