ERH 455 Syllabus In-Class Analysis

Dr. Lisa King seems to be trying to tell the reader of her syllabus that writing is all about the critical thinking that goes into a paper or an analysis or any type of writing and that it is not only about writing for a grade or writing for a prompt but for a better understanding of the information that is being given to them and utilizing the information that the students have learned. By stating that she is a Dr. we already know that she must have a PhD in something giving her a higher status. She also makes it seem like that she will give a kind of a intensive course that is based upon large amounts of writing and work and the journal that will be created in her class. She also makes it seem a bit like she will be a hard ass in her class as she is giving high expectations to them and that they will have many goals to reach by the end of the class. This helps her purpose in writing because it shows that she will get the class to start thinking about the critical thinking that goes on during the writing of a paper and that she will get the class to have a much better understanding of the information that is being given, in that she’s going to push the class to the point where they are going to learn and are going to get the information that she is teaching drilled into their minds.
