I think this play could be called a “drive by shooting” because its shoots down this family generation after generation. Not only does the play attack the families who lived on the land year after year, but the others who come in like JT and the coal miners. It’s as if they took all the stereotypes, put them into each of the generations and criticized them for the way they lived. This is like a continuous drive by shooting the stereotypes of the Appalachia region. This is important because it is another form or media and representation of the Appalachian region in the stereotypical negative way. It shows what get money in the production world such as this play. I think it represents the idea that the area is all the same and lives like that all throughout the region, which cant be true, but its the depiction of the bad guy of the US.
