Acropolis is a collection of various buildings. It is the earliest known museum with an asymmetrical plan with lots of levels that represent the buildings multipAcropolis01le functions. There isn’t many sculptural decorations but inside the temples there are some. A piece was the erechtheion, stands over the mythical contest between poseidon and athena poseidon struck a rock with his trident which caused a spout of water but athena gave an olive tree and won the contest. Athenians enclosed the sacred rock with the marks of the trident. The structure also housed the statue of Athena which was the focus of the panathenaic festival. in the south side of Acropolis, there are caryatids, female figures acting as a column, supporting the porch of a building. The architecture found at acropolis influenced the 18th century european architects.

The Parthenon Frieze is a large relief that stretches around the Parthenon. a frieze is a broad horizontal band of sculptured of painted decoration. This frieze is a relief sculpture that depicts the people of Athens. It represents the pan ethnic precession, a celebration during classical times.  The people represene04_LARGEted in the frieze are olympic gods who are seated and the citizens more towards them including soldiers, elders, musicians, sacrificial animals being escorted, hero women and the gods.
