Ginsberg Speech

Ruth Bader Ginsberg spoke yesterday at VMI. Multiple topics were brought up, most notably U.S. v. Virginia. Two of the most decisive pieces of evidence used was the precedent set by Mississippi v. Hogan as well as the experience of the service academies allowing women in. She used evidence as a foundation that allowing women into VMI would not be the end of the world (service academies), and that male only schools receiving federal funding were already a judiciary precedent (Mississippi v. Hogan).

Ginsberg’s argument was a one sided one, because she eventually referenced Justice Scalia, but never went into detail about his quote “VMI is dead”. justice Ginsberg did not give any background about the quote.
