Reflective Tag
I first became interested in this topic after first reading King Henry V by William Shakespeare. When writing the short assignment on the manuals of arms, I was interested to see that many of the values and ethics that our military has today were also vital and necessary for military officers during the Early Modern Period. What also interested me to want to have this topic as my final paper is how King Henry V acted as a military officer. What I mean is that even though he was royalty and not expected to fight alongside the common man, he did. This philosophy of instilling confidence in seemingly hopeless situations was enticing and exciting. So, this is where I came up with the idea to write about how King Henry V in Shakespeare’s play challenged the medieval age’s ideals on the manuals of arms.
