Argumentative rhetorical analysis

  1. Introduces and summarizes the source
  2. Comments on the source’s credibility (and gives reasons for those comments)
  3. Identifies how the essay would be useful to you or someone else researching the essay’s subject

The Tethered Generation by Kathryn Tyler calls the attention of the reader to realize the effects social media and technology has had on the generation of our youth. Kathryn Tyler suggests that social media has caused Generation Y, people born between 1978 to 1999, to have an unprecedented reliance on their parents and superiors. This is due to their constant ability to call for help at any time via text messages and email. The credibility of the statement is believable since the reasoning is well supported by multiple sources and research facilities. On the other hand, it is arguable to say that the social media may have helped the generation in some ways since they have developed a vivid imagination due to their constant interaction via the internet. The essay, because of its rhetorical analysis on the subject and multiple supporting sources on the argument presented, would be a good source to use in a research essay talking about social media and the effect it has had in our generations.
