Rhetores. Word Plato used to refer to all users of persuasive words.

Doxa. Public opinion. Plato believed the Sophists only hoped to influence doxa without regard to justice.

Episteme. Knowledge.

Rhetorike. Gorgias uses this term to describe his art, which is concerned with words.

Erga. Desirable or useful outcome, which Socrates claims is necessary for something to be a true art.

Empeiria kai tribe. A knack achieved by experience and repeated practice. Socrates compares rhetoric to this to distinguish between true and false arts.

Kolakeia. Flattery. Another description used by Socrates to describe false arts.

Hedone. Defines morality as following desire, proposed by Callicles.

Demos. The masses.
