This past weekend I finished up my first worksheet using SPSS. This program is very interesting and educational as it helps me to understand how to evaluate statistics on a deeper level, but the user interface is incredibly frustrating, especially at first. Open first glance, the entire program just appears to be a random jumble of numbers and values listed inside cells in excel. This concept, especially to a beginner, is an intimidating one to say the least. However, by the end of the first worksheet, I feel like I generally grasp the basics of how to use the SPSS software. I have just now started on the second worksheet, and it’s surely tougher than the first, but through trial and error I am starting to figure it out. The key to success in SPSS worksheets is patience, because when I get frustrated with it, it only becomes harder for me to figure out what’s going on in the screen in front of me.
