Valkerie Review

The Valkerie movie was a well made interpretation of the July 20th plot. It’s suspense was palpable through the movie and some were very historically accurate. Notable scenes regarding this was the beginning during the failed explosion of the bomb hidden in the liquor bottle and the failure to initiate operation Valkerie after the bomb had detonated. The operation and its eventual failure were well made in the movie as well as the manhunt and the overall fear of being caught by the Gestapo. Tom Cruise was an excellent actor for the main character. His choice to play the character angered many German’s because of his personal belief in scientology and his past filmography in shallow action movies. One character that I think was played incorrectly was Olbricht. His character in the movie was weak and indecisive, but historical accounts differ saying that he was very courageous. This was probably done to create tension and turmoil within the movie.
