For this assignment, we were tasked with presenting our thoughts and understanding of a particular section of the text. For my presentation, I conducted an analysis of the Creature and his disposition. In particular, I attempted to explore the Creature’s sense of humanity. At this point in the novel, we see the Creature in his infancy; he is seen learning and attaining many experiences for the first time, often demonstrating a sense of vulnerability. This is exemplified by his dire need for companionship. Furthermore, this section brought to light the Creature’s benevolent nature. These displays of emotion and charity demonstrate that the Creature does possess at least a marginal amount of humanity. This also raised the question as to who was the real monster was in the novel: the Creature or Victor?
