American culture is my topic for gender and culture. There are many effects due to economy social and political organization and other factors that have contributed to the changes in gender constructs in the united states.
The fact of the matter is the economy and our cultural heavily effects that of gender and culture. In the american culture it is typical for most children to be born and follow a bilateral kinship between two parents. Generally the offspring will inherit the father’s last name when being born. This follows the patrilineal guidelines which traces descendants through the male family line or ancestry. Though this is true it doesn’t matter what the offspring is it too can also follows the mother’s last name and take over matrilineal lines of the family. Hats the interesting part of american culture that it can follow one or the other mother or father or generally inheritance of both mother and father. They also used shared kinship. Grandparents are a huge example of such.
Economy has played a huge role in culture. Typically in the american culture it is common to herd and participate in farming and agricultural jobs. These are jobs that in american culture are seen as manly jobs. But women can to take part in the same realm. Women in american cultures are seen a nurtures. So in the example of farming a women duty in american culture would be two feed the livestock and ase and look after the baby animals. Due to to the effects of the economy and industrialization throughout american culture the roles of men and women have shited. Typically in the early 1940’s women were never in the workforce they operated from the home. Now decades later you see women and men working together in these work environments. This is due to the changes and growth of the world through economics and commercialization.
The mosu of china are a patrilineal group their culture follow the ancestors of men down the line. An example of a matrilineal culture would be the cherokee indians or the iroquois indians, These pastoral people generally named their children and cultural practices from women. Women are held sacred for those cultures where men are prevalent in china.
All and all gender and culture has changed and plays a huge part in the world today. Through the use of industrialization and commerlisim it has defined and changed the roles of men and women in the world today. I think the roles of men and women will generally continue to increase and shape each other.

The global gender gap is the index ranking of countries between men and women it assesses the state of gender equality in a country. The index looks at four specific areas to determine the results health education economy and politics. These are the measurements used to determine the gender gap.
Iceland Norway and Sweeden. are the top three countries ranking on the global gender gap.The three highest-ranking countries have closed over 84% of their gender gaps, while the lowest-ranking country has closed only a little over 50% of its gender gap. It “assesses countries on how well they are dividing their resources and opportunities among their male and female populations, regardless of the overall levels of these resources and opportunities. Swaziland zambia trindad ran in dead last in the gender gap for 2018. The factors that also go into this are those of accessible work education for all men and women. No matter how little it is, is these things provided equally for both sexes.
AS of right now the United states sits at 49 on the global us gender gap. The united state is not top ten because our means of work available to both men and women are substantly low. Due to our innate culture of limiting women to certain jobs its typical males who dominate the workforce. And the accessibility to education to everyone is not the most affordable causing us to suffer in the gender gap. All the top 10 countries have closed majority of their gender gaps allowing all the same opportunities for males and females alike. I think one thing the U.S could do to increase their rank is make education available and easily affordable to all male and women alike.
Another big issue with this that of women’s roles. Women can become pregnant and be unable to work and contribute in a society. This contributes to the gender gap because this now takes women out of working roles and back at home causing the gap between women and males to ever increase further. Seen in american culture men are the kings of domestic responsibility. Majority of the source of economy being in the work force and other daily needs are provided by men. IN america men hold all the responsibility and everything for the most part solely relies on them. While more womanly duties rely on women like being home.
I think without major countries shifting their views on male and females roles in their countries could be good for the gender gap. It should allow equal opportunity for all men and women alike. This could also make the world a better place.
Artifact1 bio
Sex refers to the biological differences between male and female particularly their gentalli.
Gender is known as the the typical role one perceives themselves as their identity what they associate themselves to be male female or other. Since gender deals with roles and centered around cultural expectations this means generally certain part of the world expect certain things from males and females. The implications of these roles are that males are usually providers and women are dependent on men.
The basic stereotypes consequences that we see with gender roles are that women cant sustain for family. That they are only there to take car of the children. That they aren’t smart enough to be on their own. Men typically don’t do all the cleaning. The man is the only one who can provide for his family. Women generally take care of their parents.
Binary is knowing that there is only a male and female there are only two known titles to call each. The consequences of going outside of those to cultural norms you are subjected to prejudice and scrutiny from people of the two common sexes. Third gender is category which a individual categorises themself as neither male or female. One example is ladyboys of thailand. These are men of the specific country who feel that they were not actually men. They all believe that they are in fact women in a sense. Most of them are dancers of a sort. They perform shows and are an interesting group. Most of the men have gone through sex operations completely changing their features to women body parts. A common thing for most of them is that they keep their penis hey believe its a big part of who they are as ladyboys. Another example of this are the Hijra of india. Most of the males in this groupe feel that they acquire this spiritually from the goddess shiva. They believe that you can live many years loving women and then your 11th year you can love a man. They generally follow a unique ritual the transformation of becoming women typically cutting of their genitals to show faith in their transformation.
All in all this artifact deals with what the social and cultural norms of what sex and gender are. Some of the basic definitions of what these things mean and examples of what society believes the roles of men and women are for. Some examples of the third gender and those that associate with thar realm.
