Prompt 5

“Redneck” is a derogatory term currently applied to some lower-class and working class southerners. “The term, which came into common usage in the 1930s, is derived from the redneck’s beginnings as a “yeoman farmer” whose neck would burn as he or she toiled in the fields”. The negative association with the group or term of people known as rednecks are thought to be racist people. Often seen as different from the poor white person there stipulations they seem to be categorized as people who negate education and against standard English, refusing to speak as others would have him or her speak. Rednecks hunt proudly, take baths only occasionally, and work on old cars in their front yard.

The word hillbilly is associated with unsophisticated peoples of remote regions of the appalachians. The word hillbilly targets the group of people who are associated with living in hills. Hillbillys are people who are quote on quote poor as shit who live off the land. And don’t give a crap about what people think.

I think these groups are both spirited in the way of which they come from the deep south referred to as mostly where rednecks lay dormant. Shooting their guns flying their southern flags expressing their gun laws that what it means to be redneck. Hillbillies love who they are and what they are. They love to keep to themselves and honestly in my opinion someone both can be redneck and hillbilly.
