Frankenstein Book Review

Author’s Note

The goal of this assignment was to craft a book review discussing the elements of the novel that we found effective. I chose to focus on its longevity, thematic elements and unique genre. It is the 200 year anniversary of Frankenstein, and so I saw fit to discuss how the novel was able to endure and remain relevant for so long. I also think it is special that the novel  can be considered the first work of  science-fiction. We also had to compare our review with two reviews of the era. I included commentary from The London Literary Gazette, British Critic, and The Monthly Review. Many critics thought the novel was distasteful at the time, but as I argue in my essay, they could not have been more wrong.
