LEXINGTON, Va., Feb. 21, 2018– James Harvie Wilkinson III, judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, will be giving a talk at Virginia Military Institute Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 8 p.m. in Gillis Theater in Marshall Hall.
Wilkinson will speak on XX.
Wilkinson attended St. Christopher’s High School in Richmond, Va., before earning his B.A and graduating with honors from Yale University in 1967. After serving in the Army from 1968-1969, he returned to school and received a law degree from the University of Virginia in 1972.
Having been appointed by Ronald Reagan in 1984, he has served as a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, in which he was the Chief Judge from 1996-2003.
Wilkinson has been honored with the University of Virginia’s Thomas Jefferson Medal in Law, the university’s highest external honor. The Republican’s name has also been raised on several occasions as a possible nominee to the United States Supreme Court.
The Department of English, Rhetoric, and Humanistic Studies are sponsoring Judge Wilkinson’s appearance at VMI. The event is free and open to the public.
