Reflection in Restoration of Historical Sacred Artefacts

Although this paper was somewhat rushed and done right as the semester was coming to a close, I still had a good time chipping away at multiple sources that detail expensive renovations on amazing cathedrals and churches made many years ago and still stand as a testament to the inspiration of man. The art that was uncovered at the church in Venice is simply beautiful and vibrant and I wish I could have shown that in the paper in order to better demonstrate my point. My position slightly altered after I saw some terrible examples of restoration and I, therefore, hope to never see restorers clearly show where they had done work. I stay true to my opinion that artefacts should retain the artistic integrity of the original piece and not be intruded upon by modern forces.
