Replacement testing was performed in a similar fashion to the control data collection. Since time did not allow for the insertion of a replacement player for every player from the control data set, 16 quarterbacks and runningbacks were chosen for replacement testing as opposed to 32. These 16 quarterbacks and runningbacks were selected in a way that represents a variety of individual and team skill levels to most accurately depict positional value in the entire NFL. For each player examined for MWAR, five simulated seasons were conducted with a replacement player. It is important to note that the only variable that changed during each simulated season was the insertion of the replacement player. The table below displays all the simulations that were conducted, control and replacement, for each position. 1240 combined simulations were conducted in total, equivalent to approximately 100 hours of simulations alone.
QB | RB | LT | LB | CB | Total | |
Control (x10) | 32 | 32 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 940 |
MWAR (x5) | 16 | 16 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 310 |
