Lord’s Whisper

Poem Link: Lord’s Whisper Sonnet

This Shakespearean Sonnet was written in the Winter of 2020. I wrote this while reflecting on the virtuous temperance for which my father has always advocated. The first quatrain welcomes the young men who speak their minds with great fervor and uproar. The second quatrain condemns the completely silent as prideful, but affirms that we will still yet give them ear. The third quatrain gives the virtuous mean between the two: whisper, but do not succumb to ambivalence. The final couplet makes reference to 1 Kings 19, in which Elijah (Elias) comes to the mouth of the cave upon hearing the soft whisper, which is the Lord.
