Epistle to Wake

Poem Link: Epistle to Wake

Here is another Shakespearean Sonnet written in Eastertide 2020. It is inspired by the thoughts that I have surrounding one of my favorite lines in scripture, Romans 13:11, which is quoted in the Rule of St. Benedict in this great paragraph:

“Let us therefore now at length rise up as the Scripture incites us when it says: ‘Now is the hour for us to arise from sleep.’ And with our eyes open to the divine light, let us with astonished ears listen to the admonition of God’s voice daily crying out…” (The Rule of St. Benedict).
