I wrote these rather farcical poems in the Winter of 2020. These were requested by the VMI Deputy Commandant, Colonel Gary Levenson. I had taken up the habit of saluting Colonel Levenson with my left hand, betting to my roommates that I could do so without him noticing. However, when he did notice, he demanded that I wrote him a haiku in reparation for my infraction. I responded with these three poems–a haiku, a limerick, and a Shakespearean sonnet. The sonnet was his favorite.
