Learning Outcome 6

Learning Outcome 6: “Reflect on multiple learning experiences in order to synthesize knowlege.”

Through my time as an English Major at VMI, though I’ve enjoyed just about all its moments (excluding Gen. Ed. classes obviously), there is none that compared to my experience in the Fieldwork I partook in at the George C. Marshall Museum as their Social Media Intern. Starting out from square one with little to no knowledge on George Marshall himself, with the help of the wonderful staff at the museum and my faculty mentor MAJ Ingersoll, the internship unfolded to be an all around awesome experience, even more fulfilling considering the Instagram page (the primary social media platform I worked with) skyrocketed in popularity. The internship also gave me an opportunity to showcase my work at the VMI Undergraduate Research Symposium, even resulting in a First Place Award! The essay below is a further in-depth reflection on my time as the museum’s intern, an internship which imbued in me knowledge of George C. Marshall’s life and how to effectively run a social media page for an organization.
