9/16: Thinking about switching my idea from Beat Generation to Poetry, Spoken Poetry, and the history thereof. It’s more creative, which I like, and there are a lot more articles/books on that than African American Beats. Talked to COL Ball, he doesn’t think I have enough research to do my plan, so switching seems like a good idea.

9/17: Watched the DVD COL Ball gave me on Ted Joans. While interesting, I can’t find any useful information on the guy. All of his work is in various compilations, and there are no books just on him. Talked to librarian, she doesn’t have anything for me, which is worrisome.

9/18: Worked on my proposal in class today. Floated my idea of switching to MAJ Brown, she seems OK with it. Will take a lot of extra work, but I think it would produce a better end result. Looked up some books/articles on spoken poetry and, while scarce, it is good data. Switching is looking likely

9/19: Talked to COL Ball again about my idea, told him I might switch. He’s urging me to look at Beats some more, but I’m becoming more interested in the idea every day. I like the idea, and have great ideas about what I can do in terms of a final project.

9/20: Talked to my Dad about the switch, he seems in favor of it. It seems like he just wants me to do well and doesn’t care what my project is on. I’m going to take tomorrow off, I think I need it. I’ll talk more about the switch with MAJ Brown when I meet with her Wednesday.
