For my virtual scrapbook, I looked at one of my favorite subjects, jazz, and how one of jazz’s most notable figures, Charlie Parker, influenced the Beat Generation and their writing style. Charlie Parker was such an intense, but interesting subject simply because his life was full of hardship and stress. It was certainly a different experience attempting to understand his life and why he turned to music for an escape. I also really enjoyed learning about the early days of jazz and Bebop, and how the style affected the members of the Beat Generation. It was a very nice way to tie in all of the things that I have learned about the Beat Generation while looking at the beginnings of the generation and bebop as well
