In class I have learned a lot about the history of rhetoric. In writing and rhetoric we focused more on defining and using rhetoric, but I have learned more on the different styles and arguments that early rhetoricians and philosophers have discusses. The writings of people such as Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and many more I found were very beneficial in seeing many sides and components of rhetoric. When understanding these components it helps define and enable me to write in a rhetorical fashion more effectively. Form studying for the mid-term, I found myself using most of my in class notes and Herrick. I made sure to take detailed notes so that I had that summarized material for the test. It made studying much easier. For the paper, I wrote on Plato. This was good in that it allowed for me to dive deeper in Plato’s writings and thoughts. It also allowed me to use outside knowledge from other classes that I could compare into this class. It was all very beneficial.

The most effective way of learning for me was the in class notes and the Plato V.S. Aristotle debate. I thought the in class notes were well summarized and at my disposal whenever I needed them. The debate made you think critically on both sides of the argument that had me expand my knowledge on both of the philosophers. If we can do something like that again, I would benefit greatly.
