In this reading, they mention the use of rhetoric on a different level than most people would see it as. For instance they make it more of an objective type of understanding in which rhetoric is used for pure truth. This true knowledge and truth is said to come from a divine sense of reason. Plato emphasizes the means of reason in which they drive our human intentions. He says that without reasons than the truth is not correct. I find this not surprising especially coming from plato. He would consistently talk about an elitist form of structure in society in which only gifted people can use knowledge and derive truth form it. What I inferred form the text was that Plato believes that those in this elitist group are driving by reason to fully understand the truth. He mentions that most people do not use reason, and this can create a divide in the roles intentions of the people in society.

This concept is interesting to me in that reason is so heavily discusses. It is almost as if they give reason and this form of thinking a divine meaning. To where they are close to god because they think a certain way and have a certain intention. It is eminent that they think highly of themselves and of each other, based on how they communicate. At some points flattering each other for their witty discourse.
