I believe that natural talent was an important consideration because at this time those who received education were ones who deserved it. These students were the elite that got the gift of knowledge. Also, philosopher thinkers such as Plato believed that not everyone could understand true knowledge so therefore you had to have a natural understanding of some of these abstract ideas. He believed that the philosopher kings were the elite thinkers that were designed to lead in a natural order or merit.
In todays rhetoric I believe it can be achieved to an extent. I think that the deep rhetorical writing that some of the most famous philosophers understand have a natural capacity for it. Although I do feel that educating at a young level and building up this understanding of rhetoric can increase the experience and use of rhetoric in anyone. Some people are naturally not good writers. There is nothing wrong with that. I believe that this means some must work harder to interpret their ideas and portray them in an elegant maker of rhetoric.
