Guide To Writing In Genre Reflection
Through my essay, I hope readers can have a greater appreciation and understanding of Blues-rock. I also hope that anyone who reads my essay will be able to identify blues-rock when they hear it. Blues-rock has several conventions that make it unique as a musical form. Blues-rock is simply a marriage between blues, jazz, folk, country and rock, with jazz, blues and rock being the heaviest influences. Overall, I think my essay accomplishes these things.
Writing this essay was very uncomfortable for me. Many times I felt like I was trying to explain what music was to a person who is deaf. However, I think I was able to be descriptive enough so that someone with a general sense of music can understand my essay. The skills that I needed to focus on for this essay were ones dealing with descriptive language. When explaining each instrument and the style they are used, I needed to have the correct words that would accurately describe what the instrument specifically does for the music. This skill, however, was quickly developed and I finally got a good grasp on how to use descriptive language in situations like the one in the essay. In the end, I think I developed more elaborate ways to effectively describe what I’m trying to say.
