The Devastating Effects of Writer’s Block- Critical Reflection

After writing this essay I learned how important it is to understand my writing process to combat writer’s block. Writer’s block is my biggest problem in writing as I get so many different types of it, making it harder to combat. These problems have proven to be detrimental to my process of writing. Writer’s block is a problem overall where a cause results in not being able to continue with the writing. The cause being whatever type of writer’s block is occurring. But these writing blocks can be easily overcome once you understand your own writing process. Because your writing process is generally what leads to these blocks. So with understanding my writing process better, it will be easier to strengthen the process and avoid these writing blocks. Although there will always be writer’s block to appear, the more of them I can prevent or avoid, the better off my papers will be.  Not only this but it will also make the papers easier to write. Making the paper flow better, as my writing process truly relies on maintaining the flow of the paper to continue writing. 

Some things that I would change about this essay is having such a broad topic. I feel like there was too much information to explain and I got lost in my own writing. If I would have concentrated on one type of writer’s block and brought in examples from myself and others it would have made for a better paper. Along with bringing in research about this type of writer’s block. This research could have proven my points about the topic better so it sounds like an actual problem in writing. Overall, the essay could be improved, but writing this made me really understand my writing process better.
