Magee has to begin using examples in order to get her argument going. She continues to use examples of her writing and other people’s writing in order to describe the components of masculine and feminine composition. When she shows parts of Amy and Rosie’s admission’s essay, she is showing how masculinity takes over because of the genre type. The trends in the personal achievement category are what drives masculine composition and when writing an admissions essay, it is hard to avoid using it. Magee try to describe how men lack relational achievements because they tend to focus on themselves, but in this case the genre effects the writing style of women as well. For my rhetorical analysis, these ideas of different composition could help me have a stronger argument. Instead of drawing directly from text, look deeper and use a more relational context to analysis my primary source.
Post would have had to know the categories that are listed in her analysis because she probably chose Obama’s speech because she knew it was a perfect example of what she was wanting to analysis. As she went, she picked out the certain parts of the speech that matched her knowledge she has already acquired. That it why it is important that we understand rhetorical analysis before we start to write out paper. So that we are better prepared on what to look for and use in our paper.
