As we look into Musuo of China which is a matrilineal culture, we discover that it is a simple undeveloped community that is run by women and is handed down from the female line. It is known that this is a society that is not known for having an economy, its modes of production are foraging, horticulture, and cattle herding. It is run by women, everything is past down from the female line and men do not have much say.
Men do carry roles in this society, although they have no jobs they have responsibilities of raising children, building houses, and fishing. The roles of males and females are completely switch in this
society as of how we would assume roles in developed societies today. In today’s time the Musuo culture is cut off form most of the modern world but still makes strides to bring in tourism which sheds light on the uncommon society.

In America, the roles of males and females are very different. From a economy standpoint, men do most of the production while at the same time woman are still able to do the same work but also run into the issue of not receiving the same paycheck, also known as the wage gap. From a social and political side, men are also the front runners while women are striding to make their mark in politics; which they have made outstanding progress in recent years. Within gender relationships in human groups, women are viewed as less dominate as men and society struggles to change the outlook for women.
Although the above paragraph may be true, women’s roles in America have changed drastically over time. Women was once seen as stay at home moms that were supposed to raise the children, cook, and clean; while the men were the bread winners of the family. But in today’s America women are on the up rise making progress and having success by achieving higher education as well as clinching higher paying jobs as ever before. Although they still have a uphill battle to receive better health care and closing the wage gap, society has changed for the better within women’s rights and is continuing to do so.
