Rhetoric
Prior to our class meeting I had only a small idea of what Rhetoric actually means from a dictionary spectrum as well as real world. I did not realize how often it appears in our everyday lives whether it is blatant or concealed. We then had a discussion that revealed that I actually do know what Rhetoric means. After bouncing around several ideas and definitions I came to a conclusion that Rhetoric is persuasion in any and every form. Personally I feel that Rhetoric and persuasion is the basis of which everything revolves around and that everything is done for a very well thought reason.
The majority of my experiences of Rhetoric have been through electronics such as computers, phones, and tablets. As a college student I spend a good amount of time on the internet from doing homework to listening to music on YouTube. My encounter with Rhetoric the past few weeks when using electronics has been mostly through YouTube. During study breaks I usually listen to a few songs via YouTube and after a while I realized that YouTube would come up with a list of recommended songs I should listen to. This idea is wise as an advertisement strategy to maintain the loyal YouTube users because the list of songs that appeared was of the same genre and or of the same artist and at the end of the day both parties are happy.
The amount of times a person experiences Rhetoric on a daily basis are uncountable. The world runs on it and it describes every little detail of life. The art of persuasion is pivotal on every spectrum from the way you dress to the way you convey yourself or even how you speak.
