Well it depends on what we define as outside literate practices. I think when we talk about outside world literate practices we have to consider everything that is not inside a classroom environment as outside. I would consider academic literate practices those that are inside the classroom. If we are talking technical like this I would say that outside should be able to relate to inside because of things like home schooling. If they didn’t have anything to do with each other than both would be on different levels of literacy. There is a certain standard and I think that it is set in an academic environment (in the class room).I think that we can see these two conflicting more and more. Say for example there is a kid that is home schooled and a kid that is in public school. I think that the medium in which we receive literacy can cause tension.
